When carrying out "full-scale seismic retrofitting" of a Kyo-Machiya house using Kyoto City's "Machi-no-Takumi Jigyo," you can use the Japan Housing Finance Agency's "Renovation Loan (for Seismic Retrofitting)." Other repair works such as barrier-free work and installation of system kitchens, toilets and bath units are also eligible for the loan.

The maximum subsidy amount varies depending on the type of construction work:
<For full-scale seismic retrofitting of Kyo-Machiya houses>(*1)
(*1) Wooden houses built in Kyoto using the traditional construction method before November22nd, 1950, are eligible for the subsidy. Seismic diagnosis and design of seismic retrofitting are required.
(*2) For buildings with a total area of more than 120㎡, the maximum subsidy amount will be increased by 10,000 yen per square meter of the excess area, up to a total of 3 million yen. An additional ¥400,000 is provided for buildings of landscape importance.
